The AI dilemma: When expectations and readiness collide
The dilemma is rooted in two opposing truths. First, applying AI to an unprepared planning environment will fail. AI depends on reliable data, consistent processes, and clear decision logic. Without these elements, AI risks becoming a series of isolated trials that cannot scale or deliver lasting results.
Second, asking for time to build this foundation rarely meets leadership expectations. Executives want visible progress and AI driven capabilities now, and they expect early outcomes, not long preparation cycles.
This creates a deadlock: introducing AI without a foundation does not work, yet working on the foundation alone also does not satisfy the need for quick wins. Many organizations find themselves looking for an approach that delivers the essentials early, creates structure fast, and still leaves room for future scale.
Our webinar series “AI powered Supply Chain Planning” addresses this tension directly and outlines how organizations can take meaningful steps without being forced into an either-or decision.
Part 1 – The AI dilemma: Foundation first or AI first?
March 12, 4:00 pm CET - Recap
with Klaus Imping, CEO of mse e2e solutions
In the first session, we took a close look at the dilemma planning leaders face today. Klaus Imping explained why AI struggles without essential foundations, why foundational work alone was not enough in an environment that expects early impact, and how leaders could move forward even if their setup was not yet ideal. Participants learnt how to assess their current maturity, and which early steps help create movement quickly and reliably.

Part 2 – The art of the possible
March 26
The second session provides an outlook on what AI enabled planning can deliver today and how the field continues to evolve. This session helps participants understand which capabilities can be reached early and how they can grow over time.
Part 3 – A powerful entry point
April 16
The final session focuses on how organizations can begin the journey with a strong and scalable starting point that addresses the essential 80 percent early, supports both foundation and AI readiness, and avoids long conceptual phases. It outlines how a proven structure can provide a fast, low risk entry into cutting-edge planning.
Why this series matters
An AI powered supply chain does not emerge from isolated tools or disconnected initiatives. It requires a planning baseline that is structured, reliable, and ready for intelligent decision making. Most organizations are not starting from zero, but they also are not starting from a perfect setup. They need a path that delivers early results while enabling scale later.
This series helps leaders understand their current position, avoid common pitfalls, and move forward at a pace that meets both operational needs and leadership expectations. Participants will learn how to evaluate their foundation, which indicators matter most, where quick wins can be achieved, and how both foundation and AI can develop together rather than in sequence.
